Ben Lowell

"The Reverend" Ben Lowell was a legend in the world of competition aerobatics.

IAC member #1978, Ben's involvement in competition aerobatics actually predated the formation of the IAC. He served as Contest Director and Chief Judge at the U.S. Nationals and Fond du Lac contests, was a charter member of the I.D.G.A.S. Society, and served as a director of the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum in Denver.

Rev Ben passed away on May 20th, 2006 at the age of 92. He was truly a larger-than-life character, and will be greatly missed. Chapter 12 has renamed its May contest in Ben's honor, and instituted the Ben Lowell Trophy for excellence in judging.
