Chapter Meeting Oct 15 - Spirit of Flight Museum at 6PM sharp!

When:

Thursday, October 15, 2015 - 18:00

Meeting will be held at the Spirit of Flight Museum at the Erie Tri County airport starting at 6:00PM sharp.

Your assignment is to pretend you are the grand poobah of aerobatic practice area waivers at the FAA.  Where would you put a waivered aerobatic box if you had the authority?  Please bring your suggestions and a sectional with location noted.

1) Renew the waivers at Ft Morgan and Sterling - Doug Jardine did this last time and he's agreed to submit the renewal papers.  They are due to expire next Feb I believe.

2) Submit a waiver application for the old Dowe Flats box (north of the cement plant) near Lyons - Dan Peters has the lead on this and Chris Leach has offered to assist.

3) Identify a potential waivered practice area south & west of Rocky Mountain Metro -- somewhere towards Rocky Flats?   Chris Leach was going to investigate options on this one.

4) Identify a potential site for a waivered practice area in the south Denver area, to service the Centennial and more southern members -  Need to identify a site and lead for this project (Shpakow?  Dagmar?)

5) Any other options or recommendations?

The objective is get legal and safe places to fly; where we can fly at the proper altitudes, waive any airway restrictions, have it close enough to drive to from a departure airport (for critiquing) and best of all worlds, MARK THE BOX permanantly and in a place where we won't create noise complaints.   We have the support in this endeavor of Tom Wiesener of the Denver FSDO.  He and I talked about this in August and he is expecting us to bring proposals to him this month.  Lead time for approvals is 4 to 6 months, so we need to get going on this now.

In addition, we'll have a briefing on the 10/17  (Saturday)  photo day event.   I'll post a separate announcement with those details.  Note, plans have changed in regards to the "formation 101" lecture.  We won't be doing this but will do formation briefings on site Saturday morning at KBJC.   We'lll meet at the "terminal building".

Lastly, we'll start the process of planning the annual holiday party.

See you there!
